CB South CB South, as Crested Butte South is fondly called, is located about 7 miles North of Crested Butte via Rt 135.  This little community is the largest subdivision in the Gunnison Valley, is home to about 1,500 persons and is beautifully situated on about 460 acres on the side of the valley and hillside with spectacular views all around.  Many local families live here and CB South feels like a regular neighborhood.   Click here for Crested Butte demographic data. 
There are a number of amenities, including:

  • easy access to extensive mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling and ATV trails

  • over 30 acres are designated as open or park space. Of those 30 acres, there are 12 centrally-located-acres called Red Mountain Park which includes the following amenities:

There also is a community building - Sunset Hall, with a kitchen, charcoal grills and bathrooms that can be a reserved for meetings and parties, located next to the fire station.
